How I Learned to Stop Biting my Nails in Just One Week

My friend Jane used to be a horrible nail biter, clear down to the quick.  She even gnawed on her cuticles if she didn’t have any nails to bite.  But when it came time for her to get married she managed to stop somehow and since I’m going to be married in a couple of months I went to her for advice on how to stop biting my nails.

Jane told me I first needed to figure out why I was biting my nails.  Did I bite them when I was nervous or anxious about something or did I usually bite them when I was bored or concentrating on something?  Jane said if I wanted to learn how to stop biting my nails I’d have to learn why I was biting them so I could substitute another more constructive behavior.

Jane also said that most people don’t even realize they’re biting their nails so I needed to do something to draw attention to them every time I put them in my mouth.  I used a bitter tasting nail polish I found that’s made just for people like me who are trying to bite their nails.

After learning when and why I was biting my nails and drawing attention to the biting every time I did it, it was easy to stop biting my nails in just one week.  Now I’ll have a beautiful manicure for my wedding, too.
