Thoughts on Fluoride

Fluoridation of the public water supplies of developed countries has always been a controversial issue.

Calcium fluoride occurs naturally in greater or lesser amounts in various countries and locations. In consequence many support the argument that it is not always a missing element in human food and water and therefore there is no reason for introducing it at random. The wiser alternative is to obey the rule of any attempt at medication and to relate to the individual. This can be done by taking fluoride tablets with opportunity to control specific doses. This is particularly important as infants are the target market for the alleged purpose of improving dental health.

So why do we consider tolerating a general medication in our public water supplies?

The case against fluoridation intensifies as we become aware of the dangers. The public has never been educated as to the risks to health as the focus remains upon the teeth only. But what about the side effects that can cause other health problems? We would be best to make our own study to become informed here. So we have to consider the matter for ourselves but as fluoride is claimed to dull brain function and if we drink a lot of water we get a lot of it, what are we to do?

I worry about my family as the internet lists approximately 460,000 posts on one aspect of the side effects alone with accent on the toxicity and queries about carcinogenic properties. So it is reasonable to be cautious about taking a chemical that gives us more health problems.

Based upon the principle of mass medication, fluoridation remains an important controversial health issue.
