My ears were constantly and loudly ringing. It started as a barely perceptable buzzing noise and would come and go. Then it became louder and constant. The noise would sometimes sound like hissing, buzzing or roaring. That was when I finally decided to make an appointment to see an ear, nose and throat specialist to find out what was going on and what kind of ear ringing treatment was available.

I went through seemingly endless testing to determine the cause. One thing I was shocked to hear was that I had a slight hearing loss. I was told that the ringing was a condition called tinnitus and if you have tinnitus you also have hearing loss to some extent.

After I was given a couple of treatments that they thought might help the ringing, I was told that there was no cure for the hearing loss or the tinnitus either. They said the treatments could help the tinnitus but in the end they were no help at all.

So I spent the next three decades just trying to ignore it and go on with my life. Then I discovered a wonderful plan that has just about put an end to the ringing.
